BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 18th, 2017 (PRESS SEC) — Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris will be Ambassador Michael Powell’s special guest this Monday, February 20th, 2017 from 9:00am to 10:00am and, if you happen to miss the broadcast of the immensely popular radio program The People’s Voice on Sugar City 90.3 FM, you can hear the rebroadcast on Monday night from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.

Dr. Harris’ appearance on The People’s Voice with His Excellency Ambassador Michael Powell, Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, comes almost six months to the day since the relaunch of the program on Sugar City 90.3 FM on Monday, August 22nd, 2016 after a hiatus of approximately four months. The Honourable Prime Minister was Ambassador Michael Powell’s special guest back then on August 22nd.

During his radio appearance last August, Prime Minister Harris told Ambassador Powell live on the air, “To God be the glory, you are now back on air and back on air to stay and I want – on behalf of all those people who had looked forward to hearing your voice, your message, and the truth being told – to thank you for coming back on air to be part of the voice of prosperity and the voices of the people.” Dr. Harris added that the Team Unity Movement originated from the voices of ordinary people and has stayed true to that spirit.

“Team Unity is an idea that will never die,” Prime Minister Harris also said on The People’s Voice. “Team Unity represents a vision for developing a small island state, maximizing the resources available to a small country across the partisan divide and, in the context of our Federation, across the island divide of Nevis and St. Kitts. That idea was one that caught the attention of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis way back before 2013, in fact, when persons like Washington Archibald, like ‘Mr. Culture’ [Vincent Robelto Benjamin], like ‘Mr. Politics’ [Wendell Dorsett], and ‘Jam Down’ [Elvis Manners] and others had said to the country that we needed a new vision and a new way that would bring a more cohesive country and put the country to work,” the Honourable Prime Minister added.

The Team Unity leader continued: “Team Unity as a Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is stronger than ever and cohesively working to fulfill the mandate of the ordinary people…Our message resonated and Team Unity is alive and well, and stronger than ever. We are still here and we are working on behalf of the people.”

This coming Monday’s live radio interview with Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris is coming on the heels of a wildly successful second anniversary week of activities, in celebration of the electoral victory of the three-party Team Unity coalition on Monday, February 16th, 2015.

When the Special Envoy in the Office of the Prime Minister launched The People’s Voice on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015, he featured Deputy Prime Minister the Honourable Shawn Richards, who spoke about Team Unity’s first 100 days in office.

Prior to the February 16th, 2015 general election, Mr. Michael Powell hosted a radio program on Sugar City 90.3 FM titled Changing Times. Introduced to the airwaves shortly after the momentous launch of the Team Unity Movement – when Dr. Harris was announced as the Movement’s leader on Thursday, September 26th, 2013 at Greenlands Park – Changing Times set itself apart from all the other talk shows from the outset.

Ambassador Michael Powell explained the nuances between Changing Times and The People’s Voice when he spoke with the Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister on Saturday, August 20th, 2016.

“That show was calling for change and so I thought it was appropriate to call it Changing Times. Now that that show was successful and we got the change, it turned into The People’s Voice, to echo the voices of the people out there,” the radio host said, adding that, for the very first time, his listeners would have a chance to email their questions. He assured that a wide range of emails, “both positive and negative,” would be read and addressed on the air. The email address is
