CHIEF IMMIGRATION OFFICER


Job Purpose

The Chief Immigration Officer is generally responsible for supervising the work of all Immigration Officers; checking the eligibility of all individuals entering St. Kitts and Nevis at all ports of entry; enforcing immigration control in line with the law and, where necessary, employing legal powers to detain or remove illegal entrants. The Chief Immigration Officer must be capable of implementing all the provisions of the Immigration Act Chapter 6.02 of the Laws of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis; and must master all available capabilities of the St. Kitts and Nevis Border Management System being implemented in collaboration with Canadian Bank Note (CBN). The Chief Immigration Officer is also the ‘Competent Authority’ referred to in immigration-related legislation such as the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS).
Academic Qualifications and Experience
Should possess at least the minimum qualifications required of persons appointed in the civil service of St. Kitts and Nevis, and possess at least ten (10) years experience as Head of a Department or functioning as the Supervisor of a major Administrative Unit in a government agency, military, security or law enforcement agency, or in the private sector.
The following would be assets: (i) a bachelor’s degree; (ii) intensive training in, and knowledge of, security and local, regional and international border management systems, and in related fields and issues, for example, migration; (iii) competence in ICT applications.
Salary
Will be commensurate with the Civil Service Salary structure in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, and could be personal to holder depending on qualifications. A contractual arrangement may be negotiable depending on age of successful candidate, or other pertinent factors.

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR
Job Purpose
The National Security Advisor is a public officer and chief professional advisor on national security matters in the Office of the Prime Minister/ Ministry of National Security, appointed in accordance with Section 79 of the Constitution of St. Kitts and Nevis. The National Security Advisor is a named member of the National Defence Council (NDC), established under the National Defence Council Act, Revised Edition, Chapter 19.20 of the Laws of St. Christopher and Nevis. The National Security Advisor advises the Government on matters relating to national security, assists in the coordination of national security activities among various government agencies, encourages and facilitates cooperation among the Police Force and other national security agencies.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
Should possess at least minimum civil service qualifications; at least ten (10) years experience in highly recognized leadership positions in various fields related to national security, for example: law enforcement, defence, intelligence, criminal investigation, criminal /court prosecution, border security, anti-terrorism, cyber security.
The following would be assets: (i) a bachelor’s degree; (ii) intensive training in security-related fields; and (iii) competence in using ICT applications.
