Port of Spain, Trinidad – The Caribbean is one step closer to having joint Regional Guidelines for Gender Based Violence (GBV) at the Workplace Level. On Wednesday 18th May, 2022, over 130 persons from 18 Caribbean countries – including Barbados; Grenada; Jamaica; Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago – participated in the Strengthening Regional Co-operation Workshop. The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) today quashed the decision of the Parole Board to revoke the parole of Mr Hillaire Sears, presently incarcerated at the Belize Central Prison and issued consequential orders against the Parole Board, Minister of National Security and the Attorney General of Belize for breach of Mr Sears’ constitutional rights but did not order damages sought by Mr Sears.
